Transviolet –the dancey, electro-pop, four-piece band will soon be the only band you want to listen to. Their self-titled EP is out now on EPIC records and you miiiiight want to purchase it here, considering it’s mildly addicting, especially in the shower. (Don’t listen to it in the shower, seriously. You’ll waste more water than a leaking bathtub). The LA-based band got their start in New York but moved to Hollywood to get serious about music and released its firs song, “Girls Your Age,” in July 2015. The coming-of-age track rocketed to No. 1 on Hype Machine’s main chart and No. 3 on Spotify’s Global viral chart, boasting nearly 900,000 Spotify streams.
In additional to gaining a strong fan base, Transviolet is getting multiple nods from established artists like Katy Perry, who shared “Girls Your Age” as her Song of the Day on Twitter, and Harry Styles who tweeted a line from the track. Lorde, Ellie Goulding, and Twin Shadow noted the band’s spaciously sexy sound which falls somewhere between the knowingness of Lana, the lilt of Lorde and Sia, and the dark rhythm of Melanie Martinez. From the first note, their appeal is instantaneous. Twin Shadow even made a remix of “Girls Your Age” that speeds up the track.
The quartet will play its very first show on September 29, at Neon Gold’s Popshop West at the The Echo, located in their adopted hometown of Los Angeles. The line-up for the sold-out show includes Alina Baraz & Galimatias, and Farao. After they lose their showginity, the band joins Mikky Ekko on his fall North American tour, kicking off October 1 at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angele.
Their EP contains four songs. Listen to them now.
